A sewage injector pump is used as a lift station for your bathroom waste, when you see one of these pumps you should always see two waste lines coming out of the system, one is waste and the second will run to the exterior of the home for venting. This pump can be tested by flushing the toilet or running water (typically for a couple of minutes) and then listening for the pump to engage.  Once it does you will know it is operating.
